I went to Fukui for Medelke’s exhibition.
Since starting this work, I’ve been doing everything I can, in my own way, and acting wholeheartedly without stopping to think. Looking back today, I realized once again how many different experiences I’ve been fortunate to have.
I also realized that so many people are supporting us—far more than I could have imagined before.
We started with just two bottles of dressing, but before I knew it we had launched all kinds of products, were able to exhibit in Fukui representing Kamiichi Town, and our sales were steadily growing.
We’re always busy; I still can’t pay the team enough; I keep wondering how to make things work; and I’m still a long way from drawing a salary as the company president (laughs).
I was fired up about creating a great business model in my hometown of Kamiichi, but we still have a long way to go.
I don’t often look back, and I’m not one to feel satisfied, but when I took a moment to reflect today, I felt deeply grateful. It’s not so bad to look back once in a while (laughs).
A young person who ate our wild boar curry told me, “We have a serious wild boar problem in my hometown too, so I’d like to make products like this!” That made me happy.
I want to help these kinds of connections and circles take root. That’s why we named it Medelke—a play on “芽、でるけ?” (“Will a sprout come out?”). One step at a time, steadily!
